Avester's Column 62~That's 'column', not 'coulomb'-THE SUPER I HATE PHYSICS EDITION

Last Friday Mr Chan declared a full day. It was after much anticipation (well, sort of, i think) and a super anti-climatic video that he announced it. So that day was officialy declared:

Initially I was against going to the beach. I hate beaches (well, not really, it's a bad exaggeration) but that day was different. I told myself I shan't be a spoilsport and just go. It wasn't that bad. (at first), we splashed around and played with Qing Hui's volleyball (at this point I would like to add that she probably would not want to see how the ball looked like that day) and dunked each other. The dunking part was terribly obscene (not really...YOU WISH). Anyway we had fun. Until 10+. Okay that was when everyone hated the beach. And it had nothing to do with land reclamation.

Bernice's bag of stuff and Natalie's I-Pod were stolen. And so was Eileen's water bottle. Anyway, we ran around the beach dripping wet, roped a bunch of 11 people and they chased the theif and the police came and there was chaos (not really...) and we all had soft drinks and we had a race to 7-Eleven and we grew sick and tired of the beach and returned to VJ. There I got it all in one breath. Happy ending. Case closed (maybe?).

After that Kai Yi and I made up. Currently we are on talking (very very slow and strategic talking) terms. We went to Downtown East with Jacky to play bowling. I messed up the whole thing like crazy...maybe it's because I havent bowled in more than a year...I distinctly remeber being able to nab at least 90 or so...but I think the game is rigged. Since when and HOW can anyone do a Double Open frame TWICE? My score after the second game (which was considerably better than the first) looked like some very awkward emoticon...

At least I got a strike. And my score is exactly half of Jacky's. That is probably very encouraging. Maybe I'll go bowling again this Friday and try to do better?

Saturday was ~~VERY VERY FUN~~ funny. For starters we did footdrill, since lectures were put first and none of the adult leaders felt like teaching lectures (pioneering...haha) I wonder WHO (definitely NOT me!) put lectures so early. Anyway we have to change it the next meeting. Then came PT. Ah, PT IC was not an easy job (nothing is ever easy...huh). For starters, no one took it seriously. Then the run was terrible...as in it could not get any worse than terrible. Improvements shall be made, fear not.

Then we helped Wil Beng move poles into his new birdcage-like pole rack. It looks like a cage from Jurong Bird Park...the only thing lacking are the inhabitants. Then we moved poles in. And who'd knew such an idiot-proof job needed so much calculation, thinking and effort? We had to sort the poles, label the racks, examine the poles and ~~tell jokes~~ place them in neatly. And a job that was ESTIMATED by the worse estimater in the world to take 1 hour took like...5 hours. Stupid estimation. Stupid procrastination. Stupid physics.

That was a little no link. Anyway, I went to watch Indy4 yesterday. It was [SPOLIER ALERT!] barely meeting expectations. Sure there was action. But an extra-terrestrial being that resembles a lot like Spielberg's ET and psychic inter-dimensional spacecrafts in the 1950s period doesn't work out. And a swordfight that completely looks like George Lucas's star wars lightsaber battle doesn't quite add up nicely. It was quite bad in my opinion. [END SPOILER!]

Oh and I started my revision for Review test week. Physics is first...stupid physics. Most hated subject...most IMPORTANT subject. Why? Because I hate formulas and calculations. Okay, this has really nothing to do with our Physics teacher, but I think calculating all these freaky formulas is just...boring. Very VERY boring.

Finally I would like to add something about my puns. If you don't get them, please say so. Somethings may not be a pun until you think about it. Don't think you understand everything. And remember the golden rule-when Avester tells a joke, you laugh. No matter how good awesome fantastic spifftastic superb it is, you laugh. I know all of you cannot resist that urge.

Oh well. Back to work (and some games!)

Avester's Column 61

Avester works hard to make great puns. And we all know that. Today let us talk about puns and how Avester just cannot stand NOT making puns. (As in seriously, he cannot stand not making puns. He does them sitting down.)

Well, for the past few days (or weeks. or months.) the people around my table has been trying their very best to keep up with the puns. Okay, so maybe they are lame. So maybe you do not get it. But...they are of reasonable standard...high-classed puns! (After all, they were made in our class!) So, there are 2 different reactions you can expect to see after I make a pun. Either you laugh and say that was lame or you don't get it (and at times force yourself to laugh to give me some 'face') Face it. I'm too good a pun-maker. (As in, REALLY)

So...what is a punter? You may search a dictionary and understand it is a person who bets on horses. But is that what it means? You bet! (actually...don't) Instead, it means a pun-hunter (please laugh). Okay, it took me a long LONG time to find a good place to place the word pun in for today's blogpost, so will you please just laugh? It rhymes, it sounds cool, so it may not be funny (or mildly funny) but well...it's still quite a good start.

What? You mean you don't want me to continue after such a good start? Do you people even have a sense of humour? Actually, I hope so, or else you will be sitting down on your seats looking stunned at my blogpost since you don't understand...but you should not sit down when you want to understand stuff...

What else? Well, nothing much. I would *want* to bore all of you with some great 100% Original (as always) puns. But I think you had enough for one day. Four (or five) long paragraphs of very good puns. Good puns you should appreciate. (Hey a lot of effort was needed to write this okay!?!)

You know, there's really a lot of stuff that needs to be done. And yes, I'm feeling strain and pressure (AGAIN!!!). Anyway, this week is a short (and hopefully shorter) week, so that means there's more constraints on the due dates of our assignments. And to add to that owrry is that our Review Test is coming. It's cooooommmming...

Okay, that's a scary though. Especially since I have a lot of stuff to do during the holidays besides studying. There's Patrol Leaders Training Camp, there's some outings I need to go (and maybe some class outings? o.O?) I also want to do a video animation or two if I'm free...yeah...that's a lot...if I put my studies as first priority.

Except that that is NOT an 'if'. It has to be. Sadly.

Avester's Column 60

So let's talk about what happened yesterday (and when I say 'let's talk', I meaninglessly refer to me talking and you listening...or reading...or whatever...). Anyway, yesterday was a somewhat fun-filled day, I think (yes I do think...like duh...).

First in the morning I went back to VS for Scouts. Actually, it was a meeting only for Sec3s and 4s. Wil Beng wanted to meet us at 9am (he came at 9.27 dammit!!!) because he wanted us to do some saikang ~~with~~ for him. You see, we wanted to move the darn heavy freaking dirty completely animal-infested timber shack behind the den to a new location (aka less than 1m away) to make space for a new timber shack complete with a zinc-roof, gate ~~and alarm~~ (you wish). So we slogged out for half an hour removing all the spars, poles and logs from the timber shack, then we carried the heavy thing to a location just next to the original location (yes, it sounds really spastic) and we put all the stuff back in. That was it. idiot-proof saikang in one hour.

The we had a meeting to discuss our roles. Guo Qiang immediately got the secretary role, and so obviously I offered to help him. Like no...I will not be quartermaster...especially not after what the last quartermaster did... *innocent whistling*. Then those other goons all wanted to be standard testmaster, well the whole thing was pretty spastic. Let's skip that.

Then we planned next week's meeting. I'm on trial for next week's PT-IC. Wil Beng gave me that stupid spastic surprised surprised look on his face. But we really should give me a chance...who knows? What do you think of the picture at the start of this post?

Then we were dismissed and I went over to VJ to watch people do saikang. Haha. It was very crowded and everyone was feeling... busy. The place was like way more crowded than last year. Anyway I had a good laugh at the people there. The reason why I did not volunteer was because I had a feeling Scouts will end late... but who would have expected Wil beng to be generous to release us at 1.50pm?

After that I went to off to walk around then got bored and went home.

I started playing with Photoshop when I got home and decided to work on the movie poster for Chinese Project. But I was distracted into playing games and games and games and only got my poster done today.

Thank you for appreciating the awesome picture at the start and reading the rest of the boring stuff I just felt like typing because I am feeling bored.

And yes, I'm a camwhore. I mean...who ISN'T???

Especially since I'll be busy tomorrow at scouts and kachaoing the people over at VJC after that.

If you think yesterday's post was filled with anger, you haven't seen somethings yet.

I have been slogging through a particularly hard-hit week and I already have enough troubles and stuff to settle I really don't have time to put up with all of your stupid antics. I'm dedicating this post to all the jokers who caused enough trouble to me this week, I don't have time to waste and I have stuff to do, as in REALLY important stuff, so please stop your nonsense.

Can you really trust everyone near you? That is perhaps my weakest bit. I always give on the fine line of trust, I help someone based on the notion of trust, trusting that that person will reciprocate or honour his/her word.

My attitude was constantly proven wrong this whole week. And I ask myself why. I ask myself what have I ever done to the joker spamming stupid rumours on my tagboard, what have I ever done to the joker constantly s-m-s'ing me lame nonsense, what have I ever done to the joker who never keeps her promises, what have I ever done to the joker who is not afraid of embarrassing me in public, and what have I ever done to the joker who made my GC go crazy resulting in me re-setting and re-downloading my apps.

Is it me? Or is it YOU? I have mentioned 5 different people who already caused enough trouble THIS WEEK. I am busy, I am stressed and I AM ANGRY. As in, really really angry. I appear calm and relaxed in class because I just don't want to stress myself out EVEN FURTHER, especially since I NEVER PANIC.

Don't drive me overboard. The picture at the start of this post gives you a pretty good idea of what will happen. And if you were from VS2B last year (which 2 of the aforementioned people are), you would be quite sure what will happen when I lose it-as in totally. I don't want to repeat that...not now, not ever.

Okay, I'm quite displeased enough.

I have an LA Essay to write tomorrow and my target is 33/50. I know it is super unrealistic but as I write through this post I am currently ravanging books on Nationalism and Racism. I have not done anything else productive today, haven't played a single computer game for more than 36 hours, and above all that STUPID RUMOURS BEING GENERATED ON MY TAGBOARD.

Guo Qiang, I am giving you one last warning BEFORE I play my trump card. You better stop spreading stupid, unreal and ridiculous rumours on my tagboard. I am warning you, I am already tied down with enough assignments and other stuff I have no time to deal with this nonsense.

I mean it.

And I don't want to sound like a mean person but I *do* have something against you. And I know you don't like awkward pictures of you being spread around.

YAY! Today we learnt the HORRIBLE, MOST AWFUL truth. *holds up hand to maintain silence, shock and awe* Avester doesn't know hot to use a library! (Prior to today)

Met Ser Qi, Charmaine and Kai En at Marine Parade library to do Chinese Project today. Or rather, to discuss. I got so bored I started reading chemistry books, then found one that was so cute...cartoon explanations for orbitals, mole concept, stoichio and more. I had to borrow it...and so... I went to the borrowing machine.

And I remembered that I have never used it before and I had no idea how to.

*stun*

Luckily Xiu Qi was in the library and he helped me out a lot.

So I did borrow my books after all. Yay.

Oh and here's the more precise version.

1. You select your books.
2. You queue up.
3. You do the next few steps taking your own sweet time and not minding the people behind you in the queue waiting monotonously and getting agitated and somewhat frustrated.
4. You slot in your card. Please refer to the diagram printed and insert your card THE RIGHT WAY.
5. You wait for your card to process.
6a. If your card cannot process, you approach the counter for assistance, looking sombre and agaitated and displeased.
6b. If your card is okay, you scan the books you wish to borrow on the scanner.
7. When complete, you remove your card and collect your receipt.

I failed the above set of rules at step 4.

But you got to admit, it was fun to keep people annoyed.

one2one GATECRASH!!!!!

Avester's Coumn 5...9 (yeah, I think that's right...)

Yay for Self Reflection (with some quotes). Let's review how I gatecrashed through much thorough recce-ing from my somewhat helpful peers for today's Parent-Principal(hahaha...what did HE do?)-Teacher Meeting. Well, there was a schedule neatly printed out in nice pink paper that costs 20 cents per 100grams or something like that, and everyone was given an individualised copy to refer to the timings allocated and...well...this being VJC...this being Singapore...this being the 21st Century...yes, no one EVER follows timetables.

My dad and I went to see Mr Chong first...and hey-we followed the timetable...if you consider it worth following of course. He was PARANOID... he didn't know what to do...so we all just talked (with Annabel's mum and Mark's mum). Hmmm...actually not much stuff to quote from him...

Mr Chong: Avester, how do you find Bio lessons so far?
Me: Ok lar...can cope...haha...

Then we went to see Ms Ding. Not much questions there, talked about drilling and studying smart. Quite alright.

Then my dad got bored, cos' we got 1hr or so to burn before seeing Ms Ng...so we went to get some snacks and we bumped into Ms Ng. And that was when the fun began. One-2-One Gatecrashing.

My dad had a nice talk with Ms Ng. She was quite disappointed with my results in fact and asked me why I'm so attentive in class (WHICH IS TRUE!!!!!!!!!) and yet got 51.7 for Physics-which really cannot be the case. That's 3 bands below average and way below the scores of many slackers. So we discussed about graphs, improving my practical, doing assignments, PHYSICS AND TODAY'S SOCIETY...

After that and some thorough recce-ing and crashing and running and bridging at class and running some more I finally crashed Ms Ngerng's slot at the Helmsman Center (she wasn't too upset...because no one followed the timetable thus no one really cared). That was when all the funny conversations begun. We had a double session (yes...not a one-2-one gatecrash...T.T) with Fabian and his mum. Ms Ngerng commented on how I get obsessed with all those little stuff not many people bothers about...a 'healthy' obsession that does not really have negative implications, and also the fact that our class is quite bonded compared to other classes. Then Ms Ngerng was explaining a bit on IH and how we all did quite good and then...

Ms Ngerng: I'm not so worried about Avester because I believe he can do well and he has a positive learning attitude. For Fabian, he should be less talkative in class...
Fabian's Mum: Yeah he keeps talking to all those girls...

Super funny moment. I could not stop laughing.

Then Ms Ngerng expressed disappointment over my results (sound familliar?) and said she expected me to do much better. And she also said that my attentiveness in class does not match my results. Somehow I remember someone else saying that too...

Then we talked to Mr Lin (who was looking very relaxed...unlike Ms Ngerng who was super cold cos' in Mr Lin's part of the Helmsman Centre...1 of the air-cons broke down...remember I&E week o.O?). Then Mr Lin expressed disappointment in my results...how I messed up my lab reports and how resistant 14 is to structuring. Then he said that although I do read up stuff and how I know this and know that...the only thing that stands between me and an A is the lab reports. He expected higher of me rofl... sighs...my practical no good...we all know that already...that's where I have to improve and that's where I will improve. (Hey people with 'Seng' in their names are good at chem okay...)

After that we crashed into Ms Ong at Electives Hub. Full blast air-con...even I felt cold. Longest conversation of the day. More than half-an-hour if I'm not mistaken. Guess what she said. Actually if you cannot guess then you really are a dummy.

Ms Ong: You know, I expected him to pass LA. It's like...hw pays attention in class but when he converts it to paper he seems to show a totally different side... they don't match...

That was the fourth time i heard that. Something must be REALLY wrong.

Ms Ong: He is a happy boy. Very earnest, very attentive. That's why I was very shocked when he did not pass LA...

Lol. Rubbing it in. Anyway I'm used to it. Ms Ong is a friendly teacher. She talked to my dad about the syllabus, how it is very controlled, gave me tips on the essay this Thursday, gave me tips on studying for The Arts (she knows I know what's going to be covered for the Arts... either her recce-ing is way better than mine or she's just... in-depth), talked about IP2 LA subjects... talked about Time, Newsweek and Economist, talked about GP, talked about how we are going to be tested and more on the AQ...basically I learned a lot of stuff... and she ended it all by saying 'Avester...you will pass the next LA test...'

Oh and an interesting point to note is that she said our class is very resistant to sturcturing. (Wow that sounded VERY familliar...)

So I went there and learned a lot of stuff and made a lot of promises and heard the same stupid sentence 4 times. I have a feeling that teachers talk to each other about students more than students talk to each other about teachers...well that can be easily proven (if you were with me in LT5 earlier this morning you will know what I mean) It's probably time I do something.

101/115 is not something to be proud of. My target is to be in top 50, if not better. My report card looks terribly ugly with an F for the subject I know I just should not get an F for...but well...things change.

And things will change some more.

WEBCAM OPTION!!!

Column 57 (or is it 58 o.O)

Oh and besides that, I have a lot of unfun stuff to blog about. So read on (no seriously-READ ON).

I think my typo habit is getting worse. Especially since my high speed typing is super imba (thats 74wpm thank you by yours truly), so I'm defintely prone to mistakes. I bet you have never seen my 74 wpm typing...cos unless you know me very VERY well you would not know that I type with 2 index fingers. Not 10 fingers. TWO.

So now you know. And don't come kachao me about the 74 wpm thing. I bet you can't do it with two fingers.

In fact, the only time when my other fingers hit the keyboard is when I use keyboard commands. Not that I use them often besides Alt+PrtScrn, but well, you get the idea. I don't exactly love typing, but what I do like is banging the keys on the keyboard (NO I AM NOT EMO) at a fast speed.

What happened this week and how is it related to the above keyboard stuff? Well, there is no relation. But you have to know what happened tis week, right? Unless you were there of course, which you weren't, so because therefore hence thus you shall be pumped with information from my completely biased point of view about key events that happened in the week.

Let's start on Monday shall we?

Passed Shuttle Run. I realised that I was the only joke that did not pass Shuttle Run (11.4 haha DON'T YOU DARE LAUGH haha). Reason being my shoes are defricitised cos' I like to do sliding on my shoes and I've been sliding all over the VJ Hall like some cleaning engine and not picking up the stupid blocks properly. So I decided on Monday to do away with my shoes and my *sob*sob* VS Socks and run like mad.

Haha pwned. 10.0.

We cleaned up the classroom on Wednesday. Our dustbin was like some... landfill with stuff spewing out at the sides filled with sweets and food wrappers and newspapers and junk and what not and I really should go take a photo and show you but it will ruin the serene atmosphere of my blog. I will spare you the horror (unless of course you ARE in o8v14 then well... sway. I have stopped throwing my ice cream in our bin anyway so don't point fingers at me!) The classroom got into its messy state by Friday afternoon 3pm. So there's no point spending every civics lesson cleaning it. It's just going to stay that way.

In fact, once LA gets to the Arts, I will explain how trash can be considered art. It's really simple and cool really...how a piece of junk (or trash. or garbage. or whatever...) can be art.

Okay fine this is not very conversational.

Nothing much on the other days...oh yes Thursday. Haha. Another cool event. Messed up the animation for Marine Bio but the powerpoint done by yours truly was OBVIOUSLY well done. Yay.

In addition, I failed to make a joke that day. The only day that week. Sigh.

Friday...nothing much. Yeah, it's another boring week chock full of homework.

Oh our class com (which was previously screwed like...) is now fixed! And yours truly ~~spoiled the mouse~~ removed the mouse for safety purposes. So now if you want to use the computer you need to bring your own mouse and jam it into the USB Port. Or you can loan a mouse from me, provided I do bring one, which should be the case in CASE I need it.

And I cannot get a webcam for the class. Sigh. The webcam idea was like...super cool. And completely rejected.

Ok that's about it.

Since we are on the subject of webcams, I have just reworked the webcam on my home computer and now I can use it on MSN. Yay. But I'll rarely use it on MSN but instead use it to spam mugshots of me typing furiously like this going on and on and on and on and on and on and on...

Ok, I uploaded my pictures on our private VS Server domains, and apparently the system crashed. The bad news is that it crashes often, the worse news is that they procratsinate the fixing and maintaining of the stupid server. So my blog is predominantly IMAGELESS for a few days (or months. or years. or however long the VS lab technicians fix the server.) However, the blog still can function (get it? image, function? hahaha...)

Ok, so bear with the fact that pictures cannot be pictured whilst scrolling through the blog.

On a lighter note, I'll probably switch to photobucket or tinypic if this thing persists. Hope it doesn't though.
