Today marks 2 years of me, yours truly, blogging.

I decide to sit down, sit still, sit quietly and reflect on my bloggery.

I started out like all newbies, not knowing a thing about HTML3 or Coding or Programming or anything. I couldn't even make 60wpm when I was Sec 1.

Things change. I may still not be able to do 60wpm, but at least I'm confidently adept and pro at HTML. I can nicely tweak and create my own pages, design my own layouts and even add animations and podcasts.

I was perhaps inspired by my Sec 1 Class Blog. I would say that it was very nicely done, but it is now probably a rundown 'i dunno what just happened' blog. If you want the link, it's here.

Further reflections. When I first started this blog, I wanted it to be an online portal of communication between me and my friends. I wanted to freely express my ideas and thoughts and whatnot. I wanted to (corny stuff deleted).

AvesterX: Original was a big flop. it closed down after 2 months because I had no idea what HTML was or how to code. I just kept posting stuff and notes and...more stuff. After a five month hiatus, around July 2006, AvesterX Returns (or Av2 as I prefer it to be called), was made. Then, I played around (literally) with codes and added stuff and more stuff and started out with pictures.

Ah, Av3. Curious how AvesterX: 3 came along? it was because of crazed spamming on my tagboard by idiots that I altered the address from avesterxreturns.blogspot.com to our current address. Av3 was when the real action began. After my 100th post, I promised a surprise. I changed my blogskin to a nicer one and then, tweaking blogskins to make it look nice. Soon after, I altered it to my first home-made skin, a morbid, black-background skin that did not go far. It then swapped out for a white background skin, plain and simple. After my Sec 2 SA2 I played with more codes and here we have: my home-made blogskin! (That we all know and love...)

So anyway, I taught myself HTML. I went to those webpages, rummaged through different books at many bookstores and consulted friends. (Although the consulted friends thing didn't quite work out...). I started to memorise stuff I'd know would probably come in handy (and some other random trivia that will add no value to your life or mine). You can say that I'm an expert in this field. (you may not, but your opinion pretty much doesn't count)

Next, animations and stuff. I've started with podcasting in July 2007. Till today I have 14 podcasts, and I tell myself I have done a good job. One doesn't just get ideas popping out everywhere, one has to think and elaborate and refine it to call it 'an idea'. Remember that now.

That's pretty much a short history about my blog, specially writeen for two years of blogging, which is today! Yes, January 29, 2006.

And then I ask myself, what the future holds? I can't be totally sure, but I know that I'll rely and depend a lot (a LOT) on my blog. After all, a blog is a place where you can freely express yourself, do what you want and show off your creativity to others! Remember that carefully, and I'll end off with that.

Why you all look so tired? You all look worse than me after I come back from doing sai kang at Scouts leh!

Tell you joke. See, I nice guy.

Today Yu Hui ask GSL, how come must hang Chinese New Year Deco, then Guang Jie continued and said," We are non-profit organization, all that 'Chun lai' and 'fu dao' all no use. Then he say that Arrow Scouts also not lucky...

That was not a joke. That was recalling an incident. Here's the joke.

Wei An tried to hang the lantern. You know those Chinese New Year Lantern that look like a wrongly coloured Pineapple? Yeah, that kind. He hang, then Wil Beng ask," What if drop?" Then Wei An say,"Confirm won't drop one." Dropped barely seconds later. He put it up. It dropped soon after and the pineapple top came off...

Everyone fall in always time as 1, 2, 3..., our joker Wei An go do A, B, C... and kena scolded...

Okay. Post proper.

Today during Scout Meeting GSL aka Wil Beng was kinda giving me 'that stare' throughout. Like he was thinking whether VIP had any CME Class. The sad thing is, yes. The good thing, however, is that Civics Class is not used for Civics, it's used for many other things that really are not important or essential to your near/immediate future, but are excitingly-time wasting.

Today GSL discussed, not to be sarcastic, but it really was much like a one-man discussion, about Respect, What respect means, how to show respect, then he had the Sec 4s throw out a "NICE" skit performance, calling it live video. Talking about video, everyone looked pretty much not quite interested and was probably thinking what GSL said the last time(s), that he probably should record his message and post it up on Youtube and everyone can go see it at their own free time. We, we referring to all minus Adult Leaders, looked as if we were suffering. (We weren't.)

Okay enough about that. Let's get into some more controversial topics. My teachers. You can go and navigate for yourself and see my 08V14 friends' comments/criticism/complaints about SOME of our teachers. As you can tell, my class pretty much complaints a lot.

Let's start with Physics. To be frank and STRAIGHT (pls stop staring at that word and formulating weird theories in your mind why that word cannot describe Avester), Physics really is not my favourite subject. Yes, in VS, I would say Mr Koh Chee Kiang was my favourite teacher. He puts in a lot of effort (by no means this remark is sarcastic), and is really helpful. But Physics is basically just not my good friend. Worst of three sciences for Sec1 SA2, Sec2 SA1 and Sec2 SA2. I'm at least very thankful to have a great teacher like Mr Koh, whom I'd promise I'd visit this Teacher's day. But Ms Ng? Well, I have doubts about her. Seriously, she scolded the class (for a split second I wondered why my class was so quiet), leaving everyone in a bad mood. She was late for the first two lessons and missed the third. And her powerpoint was very screwed. I'm not saying I hate her. Her style of teaching is okay, step by step, quite detailed, but I don't understand why she must make a big fuss about us not keeping quiet, running all over the place.

I did some deep thinking (yes, I am bored) and found that it sort of relates to what GSL was talking about today. Respect. So we must respect the teacher when he/she is still in class and not run like some hooligans and ... you get the idea. Anyway, if anything good happened out of that, I would say the class was very quiet for the first half of Friday Morning after Ms Ngerng scolded us.

Scold scold scold. Chem teacher also scolded us. Reason? If I'm not wrong, its because Physics teacher scolded us.

Mr Chong is a nice teacher, or has been, so far. Kinda not looking forwards to his triple block on Tuesday. Ms Ong, our LA teacher is nice too. Just that the subject is scary...

And I probably better stop talking about my teachers altogether or else something bad will happen. Probably....

I used to read R L Stine's Goosebumps, and had a huge collection of his Goosebumps Works. It was because of his Goosebumps series that got me interested in other horror stories. Anyway, recently in December, I managed to snipe a copy of Goosebumps Series 2000 #13, Return To HorrorLand at a bookshop, IN NEAR-MINT CONDITION!!! That was quite pleasing, especially the near mint part (I don't need to wrap the book to prevent it from getting Dog-Eared or degrading), and it also made me realise that I have finally united Goosebumps Series 2000, all 25 books there.

But I still have a lot of loopholes before I can say that I have all his Goosebumps books, AND the Nightmare Room Series. So, if you have any of the following books (doesn't have to be in MINT or NEAR MINT, as long as it can be read, I'm not fussy), and you are willing to part with them (basically give them to me, or maybe I'll be kind and buy you lunch or something), then please and thank you!

I don't know whether you people are in to Avatar: Last Airbender (chances are, not). Anyway, today here I resourced for a nice video on it, its Chapter 3/07 The Runaway. Hasn't aired in Singapore Nickelodeon yet, has a nice comedy and a moral of the story. Anyway, you don't need to understand it. Just adjust it till the video has 19.12 minutes left. Then watch. Watch Toph (the small girl) 's reactions to when Sokka (the taller boy) suggests the idea of buying a messenger hawk.

Okay, the purpose of showing you this animated-ly captivating visual aid is because there is a moral behind it. Let's imagine me trying to be friendly like Sokka. Then a joker like Kai Yi giving Toph's rude remark. How would you feel? ~~Write down your reflections in no less than 10.0^1000000words.~~ Just some points to think about.

The smell...the feeling...the taste (not really) of Bridging Curriculum Week!!!

Which by the way, is pretty alright so far.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you have 2 options. You read on, or you don't read on. If you elect to read on, then please continue.

Let's have a flashback. Imagine yourself thinking (that's kinda odd...???) about what happened yesterday...

Chemistry lesson we learned about how we react when faced with a conflict, ie, a quarrel, and how our different personalities would deal with the situation. Mine is represented by a turtle, which means I would abstain from fights (withdraw). Of course, I was from the 'OWL' group, which is to use an intelligent method or clever solution or some trickety trick to solve our problem and make sure everyone is happy (happy is subject to re-definition). Yes, it was such an interesting (an interactive) Chemistry lesson. Or I should put it as Can-we-try out something different? (That would sound better, because if I told my VS friends that we had Chem period and we studied huh? for Chem...well, it won't really sound professional)

The important thing though, is that it sounds FUN!!! Sort of anyway.

Civics lesson. Skip that. PE. Yes, we really HAD PE during PE lesson. No weird stuff, just floorball. I scored two goals. Score: 2-0. I took a toilet break. I came back and score: 2-all. That was bad. We eventually lost 2-3 against O8V13.

Today (Tuesday). We had talks. We had a humanities talk about bidding for optional humanities courses, and I was taking Lit...but so are many MANY others...its like...my lit in Sec2 because of final year it was just terrible!!! And worse...it is such a popualr option (among the girls that is, O.o)I wonder if I could get in...then we had a science talk that ended up into being a talk on some optical illusions, brain boggling puzzles that we really just aren't good at ('we' is a general term, it describes all of us...)

We also had Biology. We were supposed to solve a weird puzzle based on our Math, Geog and Thinking skills, and basically nothing to do with Bio. I won't elaborate. But it was very fun. So there.

We also had Language Arts. Our topic was pretty much diverse. Discussed ways on making a good oral presentation, talked about posture, grooming, gestures and was quite useful. I had to give a speech about what I hate about VS. Not that I really hate VS, I mean, VS rocks!!! But a speech is STILL a speech, so obviously I had to say stuff (that really isn't made up) VS Boys, You can already guess the main character in my lengthy anecdotes.

Moving on. Civics. Talked MORE about attire, grooming etc...

And that wraps up Bridging Curriculum for these two days. Three more days to go. Then REAL lessons start.

Yup. You can already feel me shivering away...

Avester's Column 41

Today I have decided to discuss about my priority list in the new year. I know this 'discussion' is one where you won't be responding to quite well, so I will carry on fuming angrily while 'discussing'. Bear with me. Seriously.

Here are the viable options in no order.

IP Homework, Exams, Scouts, Computer Games, Other Entertainment, Blogging, Eating, Going Out and of course Sleeping.

Allow me to re-order them if the current date today is 1st December 2006, which obviously it isn't.

7. IP Homework
8. Sleeping
9. Exams

Kinda sad right? I mean, look at all those on top. Holidays. I miss 'em.

But its a new year! So that means...

Now let us have a few brain-boggling equations to figure out.

If exams is as important as homework, that means exam=homework, causing an imbalance to free time, therefore the amount of time given to schoolwork is inversely proportional to the time given to...free time...(pun not intended). Therefore, S oc 1/F, thus making S=k/F, where k is a non-zero constant. Because we can only have 24 hours in a day, and some time must be given to eating and sleeping, 24-(S+F)=E+Z (Z=sleeping), and if I spend a total of 1 hr eating meals and 7 sleeping, then 24-1-7=S+F=16. So, if I spend 11 hours on schoolwork, 6 must be free time...no? Wait! Cut transport time, toilet breaks, blah blah of around 2hrs and we get only 14 hrs to spare! Argh! S=k/F, 11=k/3, therefore we gather k must be equal to 33. So...

HEY WAIT!!! DON'T GO!!! I WAS JUST REVISING SEC2 STUFF!!! OI!!!

I understand you not be interested in such stuff. Let me go on. (Remember that exam=homework)

What's the difference between this and the previous one? Two jokers occupying the '1' position. That equates to less time for free time (once again pun not intended). Okay, that really is terrible.

After Wil Beng's yabbering and jabbering last Saturday about PLC and what not, I managed to gather that exams=homework=scouts. Once again, we present to you the updated table.

Yikes!!! That would mean seriously less time for free time. Therefore, 24-(S+F)=E+Z, where F=0 (that stinks). Assuming my eating time is constant and I cut my sleep by 1hr to watch news and read the papers (General Paper stinks. Get that right.), we would get 24-(S+0)=1+6+2(from the transport+toilet+miscellaneous), making S=24-9, resulting 13. How very unlucky indeed. That is bad...

A good option would be to stop computing boring equations here and work on my A maths...if I can just figure out what surds, indices or logarithms are...or the stupid x=-b+square root of b² -4ac over 2a...hey I remembered it...
